‘Tis The Season
December 19, 2006 by estelaaque
Giant lanterns on street lamps
Bright lights in green, red, and yellow
Grand trees and nippy cold weather
Taxis getting harder to come by
Malls spilling with shoppers
Parties here and there
5 days before Christmas
I see my potted poinsettia,
the Christmas doormats I picked from divi,
Wrappers, ribbons, and boxes under my bed
Gift items still in plastic bags
And a malfunctioning Christmas list
It is really Christmas
My favorite time of the year
But it feels bluer… colder…
I speak to the void, wishful thinking
On Christmas morning I know
There will be no present under the tree
