Lazy Rain
August 20, 2006 by estelaaque
I woke up with the sound of rain. Looking at my phone, it’s a little past 6am. It’s Monday but luckily there’s no work today. I can linger a while longer. That’s what I appreciate about my room. It is never hit with direct sunlight, but it’s not dark either. The faint glow of daylight filtered from the anteroom window is just perfect for late day slumber.
I’m a little spoilt today. My sleepover guest Amor prepared breakfast. Nice. I’ll have a decent home cooked meal. My grocery is already 3 weeks old and it’s about time it finds its way to the pan
Cooking is a no-brainer for me but really cooking for one is no fun!
Breakfast done. Clean up done. Small talk done. Comfortable silence.
And I found myself looking outside the window once again, mindlessly gazing at the non-stop rain. It’s far from a downpour. It’s what I call a lazy rain. The kind that makes people want to be cooped up inside their houses and yet if they really must go out, it would still be manageable even with a small umbrella.
I like this kind of weather…
… it goes really well with tapsilog and tuyo.
… it’s perfect for a steaming cup of brewed coffee.
… that old Magnolia commercial still lives in my memory. Rain and ice cream. Make that a Rocky Road or Coffee Crumble. Yum!
… it’s a great time to sit and snuggle with the love of your life (your malambing dog would do although not quite as good hehehe).
… it’s not too hot for a dvd marathon.
… it gives nostalgia over old photos and letters just the right tone.
… it’s a valid excuse to oversleep and be lazy.
… it makes you crave for a really good book.
… it’s high time to dig up old (and maybe forgotten) hobbies.
… this is weird but it’s a good time to vacuum clean (hahaha how contradictory. But dusts settle when the air is damp, so why not? What?)
… it’s fun watching kids play in the rain, a nice reminder of what life was like way back when.
… and yes, it’s one fine day for a one-on-one with your poison of choice. Cheers!
