Life as I Know It

Slack time.  I got a forward from an officemate.  She’s not one to get into spam but then again, today must really be slack time for most of us.  I received several variations on these questionnaires before.  I like reading it but never got to answering one for myself.  But today, I just had to indulge myself :p

I’ve never been a good talker.  Most often than not, I come across as a snub.  I find it sad because I am not.  I stay quiet not because I have nothing to say but because I only talk to people I’m comfortable with.  Generally speaking, I find it hard to talk especially about myself.  And when I do, it sounds deliberate.  I am just not spontaneous.  And at times I appear spaced out and disinterested.  It’s always awkward when I meet new people.  I can hardly answer questions as trivial as what’s your favorite restaurant.  But then again, maybe because I think these questions are so contrived.  You can’t really know a person by asking a few Slumbook questions.

Speaking of slumbooks, I remember I had around 4.  I started out in elementary.  All four were gifts to me by my mother.  She said it’s a good way of keeping track of your friends.  I thought it was stupid back then.  Why keep track when were in shouting distance from each other.  Still it was fun getting friends to sign it.  I always get a kick out of the silly questions.  My favorites were “Who’s your crush” (which is always answered by “secret”), “who’s your first kiss” (the answer was 98% my father and mother) and then the “who’s your first love” (which is always answered with “God”). 

That was a lifetime ago.  I’m not even sure if slumbooks are still being sold in bookstores.  In it’s place?  The many forwards such as the one below.  Just a thought.  I really do like slumbooks.  Perhaps writing about me is a lot easier than talking.  And more so because it paints a picture of a person.  (mental note:  I’ll buy one and get friends to sign it.  Life taught me that friends move about and it’s always nice to have something to remember them by.)

20. What do you do to vent anger? I eat (bad!).  I drink (bad pa rin!).  I disappear (scary!).  Go on retail therapy (disaster!).  I go to the spa (the best hehe)

29. What is on the floor of your closet? Pocketbooks, mags, dvd’s, bags, chords and gadget wires

30. What friend have you had the longest? I, Me, Myself, and Moi

31. What did you do last night? I counted a million sheep (again!)

32. Favorite smell? Coffee, smell of the countryside after a rain, lemon rind, burnt-out match (I am weird hahaha)

33. What inspires you? Self-made people

34. What are you afraid of? Growing old… alone (waaaaaaaaaaa)

35. Plain, cheese or spicy hamburgers? Cheese and spicy (wasabi burger anyone?)

37. Favorite dog breed? Dachshund (because of Kulit).  But I dream of having a lab though.

40. Favorite day of the week? Day off, whenever that is :p

41 How many states have you lived in? state of insomnia (the worst), state of insanity, state of calamity

42 How many cities have you lived in/name them? Five.  Quezon City, Antipolo, Mandaluyong, Makati, Cagayan de Oro

43.Signature moves? None.  I’m a snub or so they say hahaha

44. If you are an animal what would you be? and why? Dog.  Once I received the most flattering email from my bestfriend Edieser.  He said…  She is one of the most loyal friends we will ever have.  Mention any problem, and she will be there to listen. All ears. Give advice and extend support. Rightly or wrongly. As strongly and steadily as a rock. Even fighting someone else’s girlfriend/boyfriend.
